I’ve been working on a commission to write and draw a short graphic novel for New Writing North and Durham Book Festival. This is the first time they have commissioned graphic work, so it’s a real honour. It’s a two year project with some research and development, some public participation and events and finally a full colour comic book, a fictionalised account of real lives in County Durham. The drawing here is one of a series that I made during the research when I visited the Just For Women Centre in Stanley, County Durham, where women meet to support one another and make things for their collective shop.
The book is almost finished and will be going to print in June to be ready for a launch at Durham Book Festival in October 2018.
